"50 things being killed by the internet"

5) Punctuality
Before mobile phones, people actually had to keep their appointments
and turn up to the pub on time. Texting friends to warn them of your
tardiness five minutes before you are due to meet has become one of
throwaway rudenesses of the connected age.

"Explain the logic underlying that conclusion, please."

I'm sorry... I couldn't read any further than this:

will "album albums" like Radiohead's Amnesiac get the widespread hearing they deserve?
Deserve? A hearing? Radiohead?

If the internet could possibly see its way to killing off Coldplay and every other guitar-pop band on the planet, too, then I'd be terribly grateful.

In fact, I don't suppose the internet could do something about the entire 'indie-rock' movement, could it? I know it's a slippery kind of fish, but if it starts with Morissey and works its way from there, I'm sure it can't go far wrong...

Oh, I think so.

hear⋅ing [heer-ing] –noun

A preliminary examination of the basic evidence and charges
by a magistrate to determine whether criminal procedures, a
trial, etc., are justified.

It's an idiotic article.

Here are two more entries that show the writer doesn't know the difference between a phone and the Internet:

Quote:
10) Watches
Scrabbling around in your pocket to dig out a phone may not be as elegant as glancing at a watch, but it saves splashing out on two gadgets.
Quote:
27) Knowing telephone numbers off by heart
After typing the digits into your contacts book, you need never look at them again.

In defence of the author, if he hadn't written that article, I'd never have discovered this.

I don't actually know who Chuck Norris is (apart from being an actor of some sort), but it's a mildly amusing read, all the same.

That Coldplay comment still bothers me, though...

Blimey. Have you been on a desert island for the last ten years?

As Wiki says, it's "widespread in popular culture".
