Hi there, I am visiting Switzerland every few months and get fed up sitting in McDonalds for the free internet. I was wondering if there is a Mobile Broadband pay as you go sim that I can get for my dongle? I wondered if Swisscom, yallo, orange or any other company does this? I have researched and can't find anything on pay as you go. It is not work me paying for a monthly service, does anyone know of any?
Thanks!!
if you want no monthly contract at all, Sunrise offers a dongle for chf 99 here .. but it costs 3.50 per hour to surf. I believe Swisscom has similar offers.

Thanks Dino, I would do the thanks thingy but don't know how. Really useful info!!
You can't do it yet. As a Newbie, you need at least ten posts to get the Thanks and Groan buttons, if my aging memory serves me well. So just post a written Thank you, then you will be able to thank Dino (and me, of course ).

Ok my 10th post, get ready for gratitude....
Also, getting back to the original question, I have a laptop that has a slot for a sim card, so I just need the sim, all of the payg terms include paying for a dongle, which I don't need. Are there any sim only?
1) I am not sure any of the Swiss carriers offer a SIM-only plan. Pop into an Orange/Sunrise shop and ask.
2) I also doubt that the SIM slot in your laptop would necessarily work for this purpose. There is a multitude of tech-standards (GPRS, EDGE, UMTS WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, CDMA2000, EV-DO etc etc) out there, and every operator deploys its own unique mix.
It MAY be technically possible, but probably not worth the time and effort for the occasional use you are describing.
