I signed up with Orange for the Optima Surf 30 package last week. The email reply I got from Orange had no details about the package except that it costs CHF39/month. I've not got my sim pack or phone or any status updates from Orange.

Currently, this package is no longer available on the Orange website and what they have is the Optima Start Surf, and I think the call costs are different and customers do not have the free 30 minutes calls per month.

Can someone who's got the Optima Surf 30 please remind me what the package includes (call costs, sms costs, etc)?

I'm thinking if I should op for the Optima Start Surf or keep it with Optima Surf 30.

we have this. its 30 mins free calls and cheap sms's from what i remember. thanks about it really.

An advantage of the newer package is the free number system. They're currently advertising that you can now use numbers from any Swiss network as your 3 free numbers. Which is handy () if your best friend is a stubborn Swisscom customer.
However in the small print, you will see that it doesn't apply to the Optima 30, 100 etc. But rather to the Start, etc. etc.

I'm planning on switching over whenever I get the chance to hold on the line.

Yep. Till now, these free numbers were valid only for Swiss landlines or Orange mobiles. The free calls are valid for other networks and for overseas calls.

Now you can choose non-Orange networks as your free-to-call numbers. Still restricted to three.

Thanks for this comparison - I thought the only difference was the fact you could add non-Orange preferred numbers, but I should have read further I guess.

By the way don't be surprised if your 50CHF discount for applying online, or for that matter your 10CHF discount for BYO handset doesn't get applied to your bill automatically - I've had two bills now and no sign of discounts. When I called to ask why just now they complained that I was making a difficult request!

standard operating procedure, i think... they dont give you anything until you ask for it.

I had to call and ask for the chf 100 introduction rebate for my daughter. and I had to call twice and ask for the 10/month BYOD discount ...

i think they count on a lot of people to not notice...

Wow, I just noticed this has happened to me as well. Didn't notice it until now. This is really ****** behaviour, I'll let you know if they fix it for me.

they will... they have been really good about stuff that I called up and asked for. (and consistent about forgetting things I did not specifically ask for...)

It is not good business to not honor their own contract. I'm pretty sure any competent regulation authority would not look easy on this if it's a standard business practice.

Fortunately it was fixed, they said it was was due to system error after the portability.

I'm happy with this, and I guess I'll stick to them for the rest of my stay here in Switzerland.
