It feels like someone is being led on. Is it possible that Nokia or the distributor promised Digitec 200 units on December 1st and then called back and said "we're redirecting those units to Nokia.de store pre-orders" or has Digitec been a little less than transparent on the status?

Some advice please guys... I am about to order a Milestone on a 12-month contract at Digitec and have the following options...
Orange are doing 10 chuffs off a month for 12 months on new contracts... what do you think of these two? Xtreme Surf Unlimited:- Unlimited SMS
- 1GB data
- 0.45/m to all networks)
- 34CHF a month including 10 CHF discount
- 399 CHF for handset
In comparison Sunrise is: Zero 20: - 20 CHF a month basic rate
- 19.99 CHF a month - Bolt on: 1000 SMS
- 7.50 CHF – 250MB data
- 0.35/m to all networks
- 47.50 all-in
- 539 CHF for handset
What do you think? Orange looks the obvious winner, especially as they are doing an awesome 10 CHF off every month which REALLY brings the costs down, but coverage concerns me a tad (though I tested it fine in my house, and they will likely get EDGE from Sunrise with the possible merger). The extra 0.10 CHF per minute for calls shouldn’t amount up to too much per month do you think?
EDIT - AGGHHHH Digitec now out of stock, where is has them that is reputable?!?!?!?!?

| | | Re: New phone coming out... the Motorola Droid | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | That could get pricey Richdog if it can play You Tube, has Google Maps etc.
But 1GB seems adequate, so maybe you'd only use just over 0.5GB a month, which would be 22.5CHF
Optima Surf packages aren't bad, including same 1GB of data plus also calls to European landlines at Swiss rates. But you may get stung by the SMS costs like I do. All the tariffs have swings & roundabouts.
I find Orange data service not too bad. You won't and up a Poordog (unless you roam and use data).

Ok im blind, I misread the ETA date on thier site, theyre getting some tommorrow.
So we're all agreed the Orange deal looks like a winner then? Not sure whether to get 12 or 24 months given that the discount of 10 CHF per month applies to both for the entire duration of the contract. |

But their call coverage is not the best (or so I've heard).
You may try Comparis to compare mobile costs for reassurance :
Not sure how suitable it'll be at finetuning all the bolt-ons. www.comparis.ch/telecom/mobile.aspx | | This user would like to thank higgybaby for this useful post:

Oh my god guys check this out... http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/02/m...-as-wed-hoped/ | Quote: | | | | Knowing what we now know of the Droid -- codename Sholes -- the mere mental image of that " Sholes Tablet" that we've been hearing about for a while brings us to our geeky knees. Taiwanese forum Mobile01 seems to have details on just what the Sholes Tablet is all about, and while we'd normally be skeptical to the point of dismissal, the presence of a few believable-looking images has us on the bandwagon. The biggies on the rumored spec sheet include HDMI out, 720p video recording paired to an 8 megapixel cam (which is hopefully of much, much higher quality than the Droid's miserable 5) with xenon flash, and Motorola's own CrystalTalk tech for background noise reduction on calls. It'll apparently be running Android 2.0 -- the presence of BLUR is unknown -- and the screen is a predictably awesome 3.7 inches at WVGA resolution with multitouch support; missing, as the name suggests, is the original's sliding QWERTY keyboard. All signs point to use seeing this in the next few months, so enjoy those Droids and Milestones while you can, yeah? | | | | | | | This user would like to thank Richdog for this useful post:

some kind of docking support???
Yeah well...
No news from Swisscom though, I suppose we don't have the same definition of "early december"...
In Swiss language it might means "from 1st December to the 26th December"...
Unless I misunderstood and they meant Early December 2020, which would seems normal delays to cross the borders off all surrounding countries, to reach Switzerland.

You can order over the phone.
Of the N900 consignment of 200 which was originally due on Tuesday, 160+ were reserved, by the time they arrive that could rise to 100%.
You seem a sensible person, so sorry if I'm teaching grandma to suck eggs.
Can you recommend a good website in English where I can select two phones from different manufacturers and compare them accurately* in detail next to each other? Preferably with customer satisfaction ratings as well.
* eg Digitec allows you to see results side by side but I'm not sure how accurate it is as it says the N900 has a resistive touch screen rather than capacative.

ummm guys - although this is kind of hypocritical (I've posted OT in here myself) BUT: this is the Motorola Droid thread - could you please start a new one for the N900?

Plus on the pictures it looks like its one device plugging into a kind of "docking support", unless they had put 2 different mobiles, I don't know...
Anyway as per the guy in the Swisscom shop in Lausanne, now the HTC HD2 will be announced, not before mid-december...
Was mid november, end november, early december, mid-december...
This is very stupid for a business to give silly time, because customer get disapointed.
They should announce straight from the beginning reasonnable delays and say: Yes it will be available on the swiss market in January 2058. (we need to leave them time to release it)

But apart from that: be glad you didn't get your hands on the HD2. From what I've read, it's a mess.

They are quite competing in the same category, right?
I dont like the keyboard on the droid, i'll prefer the HTC stuff. A mess, yes, but the XPERIA 10 is too slow to be released and I need to replace my old Nokia 6510
And it has new "firmware update" that already correct some bugs.
I prefer a company that does not release something perfect and then quickly apply some patches, updates, rather than companies like DELL:
releasing some crap, pretending it's good quality (as they used to provide), then hiding the problems until 10 months later they release updates... (cf Latitude e6400, e6500,S xps 1645...)

It's been out for about 3 weeks now. The first batch Digitec received were imported O2 and Vodafone devices. The ones afterwards (and those available from about 30 other online shops) are those sold by Motorola directly. | Quote: | | | | | They are quite competing in the same category, right? | | | | | they have completely different OSs and are different devices so no - they don't belong in the Milestone thread. | Quote: | | | | | I dont like the keyboard on the droid, i'll prefer the HTC stuff. | | | | | Have you used one? I was skeptical before I got mine but after about 3-4 days of usage, I quite like the keyboard and use it far more often than the virtual one.

That is why it comes with a plastic stylus.
The N97 and N97 Mini are also resistive, while the Motorola Milestone, Nokia X6 and HTC HD2 are capacitive.
