Sunrise ADSL 5000+ setup on Cisco WAG54G2

Hi all,

at my place I have ADSL by Sunrise - the offer is the click&call 5000+.
I would like to use my Cisco WAG54G2 router to deploy wireless LAN.
The problem is that I cannot establish an ADSL connection, maybe because of wrong settings (PPPoE vs PPPoA, Modulation, ADSL vs ADSL2 etc.)

Has anyone done that and want to share the details?

Which settings are embedded in the default ZyXel router delivered by Sunrise?

Cheers,
Fabian

did you get a modem/router from Sunrise?
if so, plug it in and have a look at the settings then replicate them on your Linksys.
if not, did they not supply the username/password?

Hi Boxman,

thanks for the reply.
Unluckily, I do not have the router in hands. Do you?
I put my user and pass correctly:sunrise provided them and they are the only sure thing

you might find some clues here:
http://www.wenks.ch/fabian/ADSL-PPPoA.html
I'd guess PPPoE, ADSL and what are the options for modulation again?

I'd also assume there are some people here working for sunrise. You could also call their helpline to get the settings for your device?

Thanks again Boxman.
I'll crosscheck everything after reading the document you linked once home after work.
I'll then report.
Meanwhile any kind of hint from any Sunrise guy around is really welcome

Re: Sunrise ADSL 5000+ setup on Cisco WAG54G2

Hi

I can sympathise. I have the same Sunrise package. I did have my own wireless router and did manage to configure it once I found a helpful support person. Their first response is usually 'if you didn't get the router/modem from us we cant help'. If you tell them you only need the basic connection data (sounds like you know what they are) then you should eventually get somewhere.

Interestingly, my 'old' linksys wireless router kept failing, especially in the evening. I became convinced it was sunrise and capacity at fault. After several support calls I gave in and bought their own wireless router (they sell it at a big discount). All my connection problems have disappeared ! Guess it was the kit after all...

Hi Ipoddle!
Thanks for the sympathy
Would it be possible for you to share the settings of the:ADSL type, modulation, MTU, PPPoE PPPoA etc so that I can replicate the configuration with my CISCO router?

All the best

Re: Sunrise ADSL 5000+ setup on Cisco WAG54G2

Isn't DSL MAC authenticated ? Can you get your Kit to spoof the MAC address of the Sunrise equivalent ?
The MAC could be on some documentation or available online in your account somewhere. On the box if you still have it.
