new to switzerland, is the SWISSCOM Casa trio - a good deal?

Can someone tell me if this really is a good deal? i am moving into Canton Vaud and not really a technophile so know very little as to what is a good deal. I would like to watch English/Dutch Tv channels and a good internet connection for a good price? Any suggestions? I also rceived package deal from the electricity company SEIC, does anyone recommend that?Comments and help appreciated

It doesnt seem like a great price to be honest.

I went for the Cablecom 3 for 2 offer primarily because they offer more English channels i want. The price for that is 78 per month and has everything we need (I'm aware that Cablecom customer service has a reputation for not being great)

Perhaps you should shop around a bit.

Hope it helps

i'd vote for Cablecom as well. their 3 for 2 deal, on at the moment, is rather good value.

The only problem with Cablecom is the English language channel selection in Swiss Romand is crap. Swisscom TV offers far more in the way of English channels. Not sure about Dutch though, don't think any of them provide Dutch channels. With the Casa option, I think we will end up paying 112.- per month, including free landline calls throughout CH.
Swisscom customer services has been pretty good in my experience.

Check to see if Cablecom is even available in your area. I live in Basel-Land but only a few metres, literally, from Basel-Stadt, and can't get Cablecom, so Swisscom was a no-brainer.

The service has been great, by the way.

Also in Vaud and also today signing up for the Casa Trio. Seems like an okay deal as each service (TV/Internet) is the premium version.

I have got the full monty from Swisscom.

Reliable and effecient. Swisscom TV is an absolute pleasure to use.

Looked @ Cablecom, and was not interested -

I have no issue with paying 111CHF per month for a stable 20Mb line, IP TV. You pay the money, you know what yo are getting - after all the infrastrucutre is all there, rather than relying on a couple of DC's serving the entire country.

The only good thing I think about Cabelcom is the 100Mb Fibre offering - that would be quick!

Individual choice at the end of the day, and I might get berated for it, but I would choose the incumbant over Cable any day.

Re: new to switzerland, is the SWISSCOM Casa trio that good a dealo

My experience, after having BluewinTV, 20 Mb internet, and free phone calls within fixed lines in CH, for a year, has been, that BluewinTV has a lot of pixelation issues, and that after 2-3 months I never got to the 20 Mb speed. I frequently used the speednet test site and initially I was indeed getting 20-22 Mb and then it dropped to about 13-15 Mb. By the way, BluewinTV takes about 5-6 Mb of your internet speed. Thus, with the TV on, I get about 8-10 Mb of real speed. I saw on other forums that this is "normal" practice for Swisscom and other people have complained about it. I found the Cablecom digital TV channels of much better quality, especially on large screens.
I agree with all the comments about the lowsy Cablecom service and the much better attention you will be getting from Swisscom.
By the way, BluewinTV is now called Swisscom TV

You should also consider the cost of the physical cablecom connection, which is usually added to your rent. If you have that cable outlet sealed, you will save 25-30chf/month on your rent. So in effect, the 80chf/month from cablecom is more like 105/month.

It's still cheaper than the 111 from Swisscom, but just make sure you're comparing apples to apples when you decide what you want.

Swisscom/Bluewin does - I have at least one Dutch channel - BVN (or if it Belgian or South African - I cannot tell - but the spelling of the shows are definitely in Dutch) in the basic package from Bluwin.
