Re: Iphone alternatives?

Hi

The price for Google Nexus on toppriese is CHF 815. Is it more expensive in Switzerland ?

I was quite interested as the price came out as USD 530 on the Internet.

Re: Iphone alternatives?

I have a blackberry and iphone that I use for both work and leisure.

Rather, the iphone I use for work and leisure. The blackberry has been sitting in a box in the draw of my office desk, since 1 hour after I was given it.

I think the big advantage of blackberry over iphone is in USA, where Iphone is tied to the useless AT&T service and hence has a reputation for not being dependable and hence for leisure only.

Re: Iphone alternatives?

I love my Nexus one - and as of this morning, it's even better! The upgrade that arrived today over the ether makes the multi-touch screen work just like an iphone!

Mutli-touch AND multitasking. And it was easiest phone I've ever set up, and it runs 3G and works with every sim card I stick in in - UK O2, French Vodaphone, and Swisscom!

This is possibly the best phone I've had. The iPhone was a great toy but not a great phone. As soon as android apps catch up with the itunes app market, iphone will have a battle on its hands.

my wife has a nexus one and says the same thing. I'm very envious with my Milestone - the Nexus One is a crapload faster. The multi-touch update also speeds up the whole browser significantly. It's now the only phone on the market that has a browser equal in speed to the iPhone.

Re: Iphone alternatives?

The nexus one has had some pretty average reviews. The major criticism was the lack of multi touch. I'm looking forward to the reviews of the European Nexus one.

The other 2 phones I've been looking at as well were the Milestone and X10 from Sony ericsson but Dawiz you say the Milestone pales in comparison.

I read an article which I found very interesting. It pointed out the Iphone gets upgraded once a year. With the Android there are 4-5 major Companies working with out. Each are in competition to have the best Android so very likely the Androids will evolve quicker than the Iphone

umm, google added multi-touch this week. and it works. amazingly. The browser has been massively improved - it handles even the most complex websites blazingly fast and pinch-to-zoom works absolutely great.

CNet just rated it above the iPhone.

Yeah, sorry forgot to mention that. That's why I said I'll be looking forward to the local reviews so we get some reviews without the lack of multi touch coming up 5 times

Re: Iphone alternatives?

Is the Nexus able to run iPhone apps? Reading between the lines, I got the impression this is what triggered Steve Jobs' tirades.

I think the iPhone was great phone to push the technology and market forward. Now, I'm ready to see the market move forward with apps that provide more value. I welcome it. This is why competition is good for consumers.

Is it still sitting there? I'm always a thankful user for freebies. Just send me a PM, in case...

Re: Iphone alternatives?

I heard John Prescott being interviewed today and he was calling it the HiPhone (cool) and how young people liked to go on the "internetwork" to use "The Twitter".

I don't think so. Apps are also dependent on the OS mobiles use. So, an app build for Mac cannot be used in Android.
