| | | Did Wii FIT you?
We are thinking to buy Wii Fitness. And I would love to hear from you if you have one.
Do you like it? How is the balance board? Does it work for you?
Knowing it is not a gym, do you still think it does make a change if you use it daily?

A friend of mine is using it to do some Yoga. She seem to be happy with it.
Though I don't think it replaces a visit to the Gym or to a Yoga class.

I use it for about 30 mins each morning. The new one, Wii Fit Plus gives you an option to work on specific areas or aspects of fitness, so it is quite good. However, it is suggested that you use it alongside other ways of keeping fit as you cannot just rely on the Wii to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Definitely worth a try though, and it's good fun for parties!

My other half can be of different opinion here, but if you ask me do not waste your time and I would rather go to the fitness centre. Having said that Grand slam tennis game still rocks and I could play it anytime of the day | | This user would like to thank jacek for this useful post: | |

I have a work colleage who uses it. She thinks it is fantastic and has lost a lot of weight. She puts it down to the Wii Fit.
Whilst it may not be a substitute for prober fitness training at a Gym, its advantage is its convenience. You can do a few minutes exercise while the dinner is cooking, keep an eye on the family, listen to your choice of music etc.
If this keeps people exercising it must be a good thing. I don't have one but have tried them out a couple of times. Wii Dance looks like another one that could improve fitness. A few of us were quickly worn out on Christmas Day trying this.

Repeat twice or three times a day.
Save yourself time and money.

But I want to have information about THIS option. And since this forum is such a great community, I am sure I can find some people who have it, use it, enjoy it, etc.

I actually found using it to track my weight every day was a good use and kept me motivated to exercise. But hardly use it anymore for games. Occasionally some of the sports games. I think the most fun we had was making our Mii's.

There was a blog by one guy who travelled the US in his van and did his Wii fit excersize every day. Can't find it now, but the conclusion from the guy was that he did lose weight, he got fitter, built muscle, etc... etc...
Of course one also needs to be a little careful with their food intake as well, since even 30 minutes of daily excersize won't compensate for someone taking in 6000 calories a day.
I bought myself a smiths machine which I use in my basement 3 times a week (heavy weight lifting) and I use this to keep myself fit. I also have the Wii fit and play around with this now and then. It's kinda fun really, it is after all a "game" and this alone help keep you concentrated on your fitness which might not work out so well if all you did was some yoga at home on the floor with no extra stimulation to keep you going (But of course everyone is different). The Wii fit has one thing you won't get elsewhere, and it's the "balancing" aspect of the fitness sessions since the board will register minute differences in the way your standing or leaning, and give you advice on how to address (redress?) your stature adequately.
If you've got 500chf burning a hole in your pocket, go for it I say.
I paid 1200chf for my smiths machine and weights... but seeing how gym memberships here in Switzerland are 800chf a year, my smiths machine has all ready paid itself back. The Wii fit combo would pay itself back within 8 months (just make sure you use it every other day at a minimum).

I find it really cool. It has a good variety of exercises and itsn't something you'll get bored with in a couple of days.
I'm sure you can find something better to do during summer, but for me it's specially convenient as I don't practice any sports during winter.

Personally I'd say that it's better than doing nothing, but if you want to get really fit and see big results then it's not the way to go. If you're bad at going to the gym regularly and find it hard to keep to an exercise regime then it's probably a relatively easy way to make sure that you do at least some exercise, but it won't leave you feeling exhausted afterwards.

I like the board and use it for "Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV-Party", which -according to Ubisoft - is the first videogame ever to be controlled with your ass. (A French invention.)
My wife uses the fitness stuff from time to time and found the yoga quite fun. I found the balance part surprisingly difficult, but it does not in any way replace a real workout.

Thanks a lot for the replies.
To give you a better idea, I am at home and I don't like to go to a gym. I tried so many time, and I always give up. Not for me.
I am in good shape, I am 57 kilo for 165cm. I have a good muscle structure since I've always been active. I do pilates at home 2-3 times a day and I feel my muscles in my stomach, legs and my bum coming back pretty fast. I have this ''luck'' to go back fast in shape.
I want to use Wii fit for some variety and change in the routine. A friend of mine use it for yoga and boxing and has a great fun with it.
I am not looking to build on cardio but muscles. Since muscles burn fat, it is better for me. That's why I am interested to hear from your experiences. |

(The OP is planning on using it to complement other forms of exercise which sounds like a good use of the Wii)

I have got Wii Fit, Fit+ & EA Trainer -
At the moment, I use EA Trainer - a lot better than Fit, and you are sweating buckets at the end of a session -
cannot replace a proper PT, but good enough for me at the moment - amazing program for what it is......

As an alternative, I have the Wii Dance dance revolution, because I love the dancing stations at indoor play arenas. You can put it in workout mode and dance to great tunes. |

Nil | | | | | I don't like games in general, but I love Wii Fit. It's really funny and usefull. I don't do exercise out of my home, so this was a good thing for me. And, yes, make change if you use it daily at least half an hour.
