ABC [American TV network] and Sitcoms [how to get them in Switzerland]

ABC has built a whole new Wednesday with a bloc of four new sitcoms starring the familiar likes of Kelsey Grammer and Corteney Cox ...

Any hint on getting ABC on my TV?

I am currently with Cablecom but willing to change to other "solutions"

There's no way to directly receive US tv in Switzerland. US satellites can't be received due to the Earth's curvature.

There are three ways to watch US content in Switzerland:

1. download it off the internet (it's legal as long as you don't upload anything. (Don't use Bitorrent etc. as those clients will usually upload your stuff automatically!)

2. use a web-proxy to get a US IP address and watch the shows on hulu.com

3. If you have relatives in the US, ask them to set up a slingbox for you. This has been discussed a bunch of times on the forum - just hit the search button for additional info

Re: ABC and Sitcoms

Or just go on 2 websites tvshack.net or casttv.com enter the name of the show and all the episodes appear and select the one you want to see completely free.
That is how I watch all my shows from back home but I also do I have slingbox

Get an AppleTV, and make sure to set up your ITunes account with a US credit card. Enjoy the plethora of viewing options streamed on demand (with some in HD even). Generally new shows are available within 24 hours of original airing in the states.
Typically each episode costs $1.99 or you can buy entire seasons for bulk discount.

Thought I share this site I discovered recently:

http://www.56.com

Do not understand the language but if you enter the name of the Sitcom you are looking for, there is a good chance you find it!

Have you tried it and did it work?

Also, I wonder if there is a slingbox rental service around.

What is a web-proxy and how do you get one? I love Hulu and would love to be able to watch it! And what is a sling box?

You should try the new show Undercover Boss that's on CBS after Amazing Race. It's good and funny. Look it up on youtube to see what it's about.

Re: ABC [American TV network] and Sitcoms [how to get them in Switzerland]

Firstly, can I apologise already for asking a new question on this thread...I'm a "newbie" as you can see, and have not yet sussed out how to start a new thread.

I have an apartment in Valaise, and we have had the same TV set-up for 10 years. It's a Radix Delta 2000 (which is analogue, I believe).

I've tried Heather's advice, and Lob, and the chap from the Matrix (!) but I don't think I'm able to change the existing dish, as it is communal.

I have a new, flat screen, digital TV. The cable going to my Radix box has a threaded connector, so will not go directly into my new TV... if I changed the connector, would it be a simple case of plugging in and searching for freesat tv?

Or do I need to buy a new digibox?

Sincere apologies for my complete ignorance on these matters. I've been to Media Markt and asked the questions, but it seems their brilliant command of English disappears as soon as I ask the above questions!

Thanks for any help

Always up to date and very reliable... I've been watching all of my series on http://tv.blinkx.com usually the day after they normally air in USA. Hope that helps

"Wednseday night block of sitcoms"..."Kelsey grammer and Courtney Cox"... wow, I think I've been out of the US for too long. I get excited when Michelle Hunziker is on "Wetten Das...?"

Re: ABC [American TV network] and Sitcoms [how to get them in Switzerland]

Several US TV programs are available on TS1 and sometimes SF2 on cablecom (basic not digital). You need to change the language caption via your TV remote. English programming is available Monday to Friday evening with the exception of Tuesday from around 9:10 pm. (SF2 on Monday starts around 8pm) Sometimes there are also movies you can switch the language. If you get the newspaper (printed version) the dual programs ar listed with a black dot.
