I went exactly through this process a couple of months ago.

| I would tell your card company that whoever it is is taking money without your permission. They really should block any further payments. | |

This won't work. YOu've given Sky a Recurring Payment Order. As far as the credit card company is concerned you have given SKY authority to debit your card so they have to make payment on demand from Sky. They tell you it's up to you to revoke the payment arrangement directly with Sky. The card company will only intervene to block payments if you can prove you've revoked the authority (a letter or email to Sky) and Sky continue to request payment. The recurring payment order you gave Sky doesn't work like a bank standing order which your bank will revoke on your request.
Here's some background info on recurring payment orders:

| I did call SKY direct but as I couldn't quote the name or address of the account, they wouldn't deal with me. | |

That's the response I got too. I gave the guy at Sky's call centre a call and gave him my name, my credit card details and the Sky Card number from the back of the card. He asked for my address and when I couldn't give him the address (the agent doesn't disclose this to you), he refused to proceed saying he couldn't access the account without the address.

| Why not call Sky from Switzerland, tell them you no longer live in the UK? | |

I did that but without the address Sky's agent still wouldn't proceed.
I went through all this with my credit company and told them I couldn't get Sky to cancel the payment because I lacked the registered address of the card. I even explained why I was in a catch 22 because ie because I'd gone through an agent because I lived abroad and I couldn't get the agent to respond. They still wouldn't cancel the RPO. I can't tell you how frustrating this was as I was flipped from the call centre in India to the call centre in the Phillipines. Each time I had to explain from the beginning. In the end, in frustration, I cancelled the credit card. Drastic, but I didn't use it much. That worked and Sky cancelled the card when they tried to charge the card and were told the card account had been closed.
I got the impression the card company could have interevened more but chose not to. Maybe your card company will be more responsive than mine were.
