Cablecom media recorder issue

Hi all,

We have this box, and the EPG has been playing up, sometimes some of the channel in favorite are greyed out. We normally just unplug it and leave it for 10 mins and it sorts itself out, but this is becoming more frequent. Now the Digital C and Interactive Gateway are greyed out. We left it unplugged overnight, but it's the same this morning.

The help ref' was not much use, so thought I'd ask here before resorting to the mire that is Cablecom customer support.

TIA

Re: Cablecom media recorder issue

We had exactly the same problem on Friday night. The channels were freezing and breaking up so I unplugged it and left it for 10 mins max. When I switched it back on I had the same problem you describe (I could get to our recordings, but not to live TV).
So I took the plunge and called Cablecom, and to be fair, I couldn't have asked for better customer support. He talked me through a forced reset of the box (some buttons underneath the flap on the left of the box), which triggered an important system update that hadn't worked right for my box for some reason. All is fine again now.
I'm quick to complain about poor customer service here (yes, I'm looking at you, Sanitas and Assura) - so it's only fair that I give praise where it's due to Cablecom...

My box is also acting up as of Friday - channels change really slow and audio takes a few seconds to pick up. Where was this reset button?

Re: Cablecom media recorder issue

Apparently it depends on which type and make of box you have. In my case (a grey mediabox recorder), I had to flip open the flap on the front left of the box and hold down two buttons at the same time. I think it was a green (or a red?) button plus the left arrow.

N.B.: I would not recommend doing this on your own. Give Cablecom a call so they can talk you through it.
