Re: Mobile Internet with prepaid... finally yes!

Comparis compares the mobile networks.

Has anyone tried Aldi mobile out? It tops the comparisons of various profiles with 100 mb data included. This for me is definitely way too little. I saw Aldi offers a data packet of 300 mb/month rather than 100mb which seems to be normal with the pre paid offers. This may be enough for me. I'd need to try to keep under the limit for a couple of months to see how hard it is.

Re: Mobile Internet with prepaid... finally yes!

yjt,

I searched there but did not see prepaid. Since you suggested this in the prepaid thread I presume that I must be looking in the wrong part of the website. Please could you post the link to the comparis page that has the prepaid prices....

Hi Sorry heres the link http://en.comparis.ch/telecom/mobile...epaid-abo.aspx

I think you were looking in the right place though. It's a combination of all available options. You can flick through different profiles but most of the top ones are pre-paid offers

Re: Mobile Internet with prepaid... finally yes!

Hmm....I have a Lebara Classic connection, which i used as my primary phone, a Sunrise flat prepaid (for my calling card) and a OK mobile connection (never use it, got it while trying to get the Orange San Francisco phone).

Lebara's plan for 5CHF/month for 120 MB is quite decent, but then it means only light surfing.

Ok mobile offers 100 MB/month surfing at 10 CHF, thereafter it provides unlimited daily surfing at 2 CHF/day.

I have noticed that sunrise has recently added a surfing option in its Sunrise go dayflat prepaid plan, mentioning that 250 MB/month at 7.50 CHF, and thereafter 1 CHF/day for unlimited surfing.

Hope this helps.

I believe those 2 are independent offerings.. you can pay 7.50/month for 250MB, OR pay by the day - chf 1/day.

Could be, but it seems to allow selection of the Sunrise SURF 250 MB along with the standard issue.
Yes, it would be sensible to clarify with them, i rely on google translate for understanding that site

Re: Mobile Internet with prepaid... finally yes!

I'm in the same boat with sunrise and google. Regarding the 1 CHF per day internet. This information is in the tabs on the main "sunrise go dayflat". It appears you send an SMS of DATAFLAT to 5522 to enable it. Ok not a problem with that.
Internet-Tagespauschale
Sende eine kostenlose SMS-Nachricht mit dem Text DATAFLAT an die Nummer 5522. Du erhältst eine Bestätigung per SMS und profitierst danach sofort von der Internet-Tagespauschale (Daten).
Question - Do you enable each day or does it automatically renew it every day until you stop it?

Here's the scary one.
Wichtig: Die Mindestlaufzeit für sämtliche Prepaid-Flatrates beträgt 1 Monat (30 Tage).
This translates in Google Translate to
Important: The minimum term for all prepaid flat rate is 1 month (30 days).
This appears to mean that if you enable the 1 CHF data per day you must have if for 30 days and you will incur a cost of 30 CHF even if you really only use it the first day. Can anyone comment on this?

Re: Mobile Internet with prepaid... finally yes!

nope. you pay chf 1 on the day you use it - irrespective of duration or volume. you pay nothing on the day you dont use it...

the day starts and ends at midnight.

Yes, i use the go dayflat for my calls and messages, and it deducts 1 CHF only when i use it atleast once a day. I would expect the same with the data part of the plan.

Re: Mobile Internet with prepaid... finally yes!

Thanks! That's what I thought since I'd been considering it over the last couple of months. I just arrived on Thursday and was reviewing it one last time before ordering and noticed that 30 day thing for the very first time.

So do you have to send a text message to activate each particular function (call, sms, data) each day or is it actived as soon as you make a call, send an sms or use data?

Is it also true if that you only receive calls on a particular day you would not be charged that day?

Re: Mobile Internet with prepaid... finally yes!

This thread has so much information. And not so many posts in 2012. My friend is going to stay in Switzerland for 5 months and I wonder what to recommend for her? The only option I have found any good information on is Swisscom's Natel data plan. Seems a little expensive. Any fresh tips would be appreciated.

What is her usage? Is she going to use it daily? What is she using it for, etc? I've been using Sunrise prepaid for 1 CHF a day (until midnight) when I need it. Granted I have a broadband connection in the apartment and work from home so I'm not out all that much. The connection is capped at 256K but it's a solid 256K so it's quick enough for a lot of things. It really depends on what she needs the connection for.

Things are WAY better than when I opened the thread.

E.g. Sunrise offers unlimited Internet usage for 1 franc per day.

But my favorite offer is Orange Me Prepaid: with a 30 francs top-up you get free unlimited Internet for the next 28 days (4 weeks). The 30 francs are yours to use for calls etc. Once the 4 weeks are over, you can use the remaining credit for unlimited Internet, which will cost 2 francs/day. So basically with the 30 francs that Sunrise will cost you, you will cover at least a whole month of Internet, plus a lot of calls.

Re: Mobile Internet with prepaid... finally yes!

Or with orange prepaid you now can get 300MB per month with Mobile Internet Plus for 10CHF, easily enough for normal use on an iPhone etc.

After the first 500 MB they reserve the right to throttle the speed...
