| | | Cablecom Internet Problems
Hi there.
Since yesterday my internet connection with cablecom (hispeed 25000) is with problems.
Ive had this problems before that are, connection too slow, the connection is always going down in less than a minute connected.
I thought the problem was my previous wireless router that i used. So i bought a new and better one about 3 months ago and the same problems exist now.
Im comming to the conclusion that the problem is with the modem or the internet...
Any hints about what i should do? Should i phone/go to cablecom and explain whats going on?
If you had the same problem please help me out
Other things:
My wireless signal strenght is at maximum or almost in all spaces of my house.
It happens with my laptop and with my girlfriend laptop also.
Tks

Your problem is probably that you're with Cablecom -- according to the majority of posts on EF on this subject.
Yes, call Cablecom and tell them about your issue.
I've had nothing but blue skies and happy days with Swisscom. Can't praise them highly enough.

Try rebooting your modem. If that doesn't work, then call Cablecom, tell them you're connecting directly to your box with a cable and ask them to ping your box. Hopefully you'll get someone competent and all will be well after they figure out the problem |

Tks | | | | | Start with a power cycle of ALL your devices:
Switch off cablecom router, wait 5min, then switch on again
Do same for WiFi router
Do same for PC
Do same for anything else...
I also thought I had problems with my service provider, but it was my WiFi router that crashed. A reboot cured it.
Once you've done these tests, then log a call to cablecom customer service.

All of the above is good advice. Our very similar problem turned out to be a bad connection in the apartment building. Once they fixed that, it has been smooth sailing. Good luck.

My Router had a hissy fit the other day, but i simply re-booted it,a dn normal service resumed after 10 mins....
Although Cabelcom offer more tempting packages, fact of the matter is Swisscom are the incumbant, and therefore have the infrastructure in place.
It was the same situation when we lived int he UK - I has harrassed by Talk Talk to sign up to their deal, but I stuck with BT from day one, and never had an issue (expect when the line was first connected, but that was resolved within a couple of days...).
You takes your pick.....

The laptop sometimes ive to reboot because its too slow when this happens. | Quote: | | | | | All of the above is good advice. Never had this kind of problems when i was living in Portugal and i went like crazy when this happened because i had stuff to do and i spent my time trying to solve this mess. Lucky for me my neighbor doesnt has is internet protected

I had similar problems for about three months before Christmas. The internet was dreadfully slow, even for visitors with their own laptops, and I'd tried switching off all my electronics - even leaving them off over the Christmas holidays to give them a proper rest - to no avail.
Then it started working normally again.
Not sure why.
Perhaps patience is the best policy?

Had similar problems yesterday with cablecom running slow.
tried different machine - still bad
tried direct to cablecom box, no wireless etc - still bad
reset cablecom box - still bad
Conclusion - cablecom problem.
Fired up TV; bad picture and intermittent sound confirmed the problem was cablecom.
All better by this morning. they are clearly having big problems

Working in the Telco arena, Cabelcom may be cheap, but incumbent rules.....
Swisscom TV is marvellous, and the Internet (raw pipe) hit 19.18Mb dowload.....
Yes, I am paying almost 120CHF a month, but well worth it in my mind.

Yes, I am paying almost 120CHF a month, but well worth it in my mind. | | | | | And cablecom offers 5x the bandwidth for 20% less than what you pay...
Remember: if it wasn't for competition, the market wouldn't be where it is.... and prices would be much higher. So viva la competition!!

our company lost internet access for close to 1hr today. All European internet links for our offices flow via Zurich proxy. So yes they are having issues. Before Cablecomm our provider was Swiscom for 10 years +... never had an outage. So imagine that if their major business customers have issues what does it say about average Joe services. At home I have Swisscom/Bluewin - happy with them since the beginning.

My net was down for over an hour tonight, and every time I tried to dial them it rang fast busy - it didn't even connect. Oddly enough, I didn't bother to check the modem when I tried to call the last time - only to have it start ringing. I then looked at the modem, saw it was up and here I am. Makes me wonder if Cablecom didn't want to answer their calls tonight! |

I have Swisscom 20mb line and bluewin TV. It's no great shakes and the bluewin box and remote are bleedin awful in comparison to Sky+ HD. The internet's alright - my mate gets around 1.4mbyte down on torrents. So that's about 11-12mb.
