UK Wireless Router & Bluewin

Hi all,

I have a really good UK Belkin Wireless MIMO ADSL Router and want to make use of it instead of the USB modem that Bluewin supply. I've read here that I need a new phone cable due to UK using the wrong wires to the rest of Europe. Can anyone suggest where I get this cable from - I've had a good look and can't find anyone that seems it.

Also does anyone know what the ADSL dialup number is for Bluewin as I used 0,38 in the UK, but can't find any docs about my Bluewin connection.

Thanks,

G

use the cable that came with the bluewin cayman modem?
The ADSL settings someone can confirm - or you can look it up on their support site. You mean LLC and all that?

You can find all information here:

http://de.bluewin.ch/kundencenter/in...rnetzugang/838

Unlike other countries, there is no adsl number to dial-in with bluewin, you can use PPPoA.

Hope this helps

I thought I would need to get another cable as read from a previous link?
Connect UK phone to Swisscom fixnet?

BT in all their wisdom decided to use the 2 outer connections, while the rest of mainland Europe uses the 2 in the middle.

Thanks for the info on the router setup.

Re: UK Wireless Router & Bluewin

When I came over in 2005, I simply brought my old 3com wireless router. Once I had signed up with Green, I threw their naff USB modem into the cupboard and connected the 3com using the cables from the UK and the local telephone filter. I requested the DNS settings, telephone numbers, etc from Green and configured it as required. Not had any problems with it so far and certainly didn't need to go changing the wires.

I had some issues with an old Sagem wireless router (mainland Europe, not UK), sometimes it would fail to log in. Mind you it is a piece of junk. Will bring my Linksys next time I go home.

Re: UK Wireless Router & Bluewin

You have to get the Blue Win ADSL line working first by using the passwords and router that they gave you.

Once it is running, swap the router and play with the settings.

Look at this thread:-
