| | | iTunes Switzerland sells movies
Apparently the Swiss iTunes store added movies (link in German) to its collection of items for sale. Prices for movies range from 10 to 20 chf for download. The service should boost the appleTV and the VideoOnDemand business in Switzerland.....wondering how with these prices. About 1337 titles are present in the store now.

10-20CHF??? Are they mad?
Hah, I also read the 1337 titles as you saying all the titles available were fantastic.

been using the new Apple TV with US itunes account. Most movies are USD3-5. Why would I use the CH iTunes? (anyone can have a US account...)

- if you do not have an american credit.card you can't open a US account (or use a redeem gift card).
- choice for language: french/german is very limited on US-itunes.
But I agree...it's expensive so I'm going to still use my US account.

Need to clarify - the prices I quoted are for 24-48hr rentals, and despite the much larger selection in the US itunes, the choice is not outstanding. Netflix should provide a better choice, but I have not figured out how to have an account there.
The selection of movies for purchase is much better, but also more expensive.

Cablecom offers video on demand for 3,50 CHF, in HD quality. And Swisscom does too.
Then what is the added value of iTunes movies?

That said, 10Sfr is a tad high, but at Sfr 10 the price may get some "Last minute, nothing on TV on Saturday Night, why not rent a movie, but the shops are shut" people buying .
Cannot find many English movies ether ...

Although the good stuff are Fr.6-8. Your point is still valid though.

Price, available titles, and ease of use are most important criteria for me. I am quite happy with appleTV (US store), it's straight forward to rent/buy movie, have ratings, browse etc...

Since there's no original-language content in the Swiss store (only synchronized stuff in French, German and Italian) and there are no series, the whole thing is pretty much useless, if you ask me. So in the end, it doesn't really matter how much they charge for the stuff, I'm not going to buy from them anyway.

Apple TV2 available as of today: http://www.apple.com/chde/appletv/
Fr.3.50 for movie rentals. Not a bad price if you find something to watch.

The video content has now gone live. However: who here is going to pay 10 Fr. for dubbed crap? Apple apparently chose not to include any kind of original-language content on the Swiss version of their store.
We're the only country in the world where Apple only has synchronized stuff - we also have the highest number of expats relative to the population numbers. Yet another interesting strategy by Apple :-)

I googled it but when you change country than you can not buy things, or you can but first to buy some UK voucher which seems complicated.
