We are in a similar position right now as well.

I have heard from a Swiss accountant that you can make additional contributions to your pension in Switzerland of up to 40,000 CHF per year to effectively buy years (it isn't a defined benefits scheme but that was the phrase used by the accountant) that you have missed out on from just starting a Swiss pension now. I assume that is the 2nd Pillar as I know the 3rd Pillar is restricted to about 7,000 per year of tax shielded contributions.

Does any one know anything about these voluntary contributions, and how you go about doing it?
