Hi Ali,

I cannot comment on the one in Zurich but the one in Lausanne is quite good. Even though it is in the French speaking part and they don't like to speak English - they all can and most will try and help you out. We also have quite a few English speakers with limited French - so they put us all together with an English speaking guide for an Alpine course I did recently. For technical explanations it is very important to have it explained clearly.
Best thing is to turn up to one of the Friday night meetings and introduce yourself. You will probably find quite a few English speakers there.
The courses they run are very good - especially for the upcoming winter seasons (into to ice climbing, ski touring etc). Its great way to meet some like minded people and then you can always go off and do your own thing after.
