Re: dog tax and registration with Gemeinde

Dog tax and licences vary a lot between Kantons. I have two dogs from the Tierheim and with each I contacted Anis myself and sent in the Tierheim purchase agreement, and then just popped into the local Gemeinde and told them we had a new dog, they sorted out the rest. We have just adopted a third dog from the Tierheim and here in Kanton Fribourg we have to have a special licence to own more than two adult dogs! 5 pages to fill in....... and another large bill at the end! Don't forget you will have to do the Sachkundeausweiss course if this is your first dog, but your local dog club should be able to give you more information.

Hope it's going well with the pup, our latest is just 5 months, a Border Collie/Appenzell and a right handful, but being kept in check by his Step Mum and Dad, also Border Collie crosses!
