Nutritional drinks (meal replacements - NOT for dieting)?
Hi,
I suffer from recurrent episodes of feeling very nauseous (although I hardly ever vomit) which make it nearly impossible for me to eat. I've been to the doctors, had blood tests, but they can't find a physical cause, and the medication they've prescribed (motillium) doesn't help. Current theory is that it's psychological, which isn't a surprise with my medical history...
In the UK when I had symptoms like this I used to buy powdered 'meal replacement' drinks which could be mixed with milk to make a thick shake. They were supposed to be the equivalent of a light meal - I think they were actually designed for older people who had a loss of appetite but they worked fine for me. The two brands I used were Complan and Nestlé Build Up.
I've searched pharmacies and health stores here but I can't find anything like this. I can find products that are designed as meal replacements if you want to lose weight... but that's not my problem!
I've been on the Nestlé Swiss site and can't find the Build Up there either.
Can anyone suggest anything? I'm wondering if there is something I could be prescribed as I haven't seen anything on the shelves...
Any advice gratefully received!
