Re: Driving personal effects to Switzerland

I am moving to Switzerland at the beginning of August and 2 friends have volunteered to hire a van to drive over my personal effects (bed, sofa bed, clothes, kitchen equipment etc- all older than 6 months old)
Does anybody know whether I have to register as resident in Switzerland BEFORE they set off? I can provide them with a copy of my passport, my tenancy contract, my work contract and the customs form 18.44 but I am only arriving on 1st August (bank holiday) and teh van will be arriving on the 2nd. Will they be allowed into the country with my possessions?!
Thanks for your advice
