The situation gets a little bit more complicated as my wife is going to work in Geneva and me in Lausanne, hence the idea to live in France. And yes, both of us have to commute everyday.

I guess we would have to find a place in between the two, one that would not cost too much... heard that the towns next to the lake have got killer rents

By the way, is it really that much cheaper to live in France, as compared to the Lausanne/Geneva area?
You could live in Divonne-les-bains. Personally, I still think it's far. But I guess many people are used to long commutes & would think this is nothing.
