How strict are the Swiss when you move out?

When I moved in last year, I didn't really worry about telling my landlord about all of the problems when I moved in because my German was very, very bad. Now, I'm starting to worry as I am getting ready to move out. Several of my non-Swiss colleagues have just moved and have told me about how they were charged for many small things that happened to their apartment. I know in the US, a landlord is not able to charge you for normal wear and tear. Do Swiss landlords charge you for such things?

What I'm worried about is that there was a crack in the toilet when I moved in and over the past year it has gotten worse. Also, one of the burners on my stove only works on high. I'm guessing there's a potentiometer that is blown, but that's no more my fault than a burnt out light bulb. Naturally, I haven't told my landlord about it because I'm too lazy. Any thoughts?
