Re: Pregnancy and insurance

I'm swiss and pregnant with twins on basic insurance - which is totally fine. I had and have a lot of extra scans and visits to the doctor and all is covered.
You allways get the treatments needed - and the according doctors for it.
As for hospital / rooms - the times i had to go in Zürich to the Universitätsspital to the womensward i was in a 3 beded room. No prob at all. Hospitals here a quite nice!
Important is that you tell the insurance that you want to insure your unborn baby - as extra insurnace (besides the baisic one) is better to be done before birth, as they might not cover extra things after. It doesn't make sense to insure kids half privat or private - as there are no private rooms in kidshospitals....
The extra insurance we're looking into is the dental insurance (1 in 3 kids in switzerland will need braces in their teens) - and that is not covered in your basic insurance.
