Did anyone see the interesting documentary about the Atlantic Conveyor slowing down?
The Day After Tomorrow was an excellent documentary i thought - i bought the one with the hologram on the front

The conveyor thing is interesting, but it strikes me that despite the bulk of the extra fresh water flowing into the Atlantic at first (ie weakening the current), wouldn't it get mixed up into the other oceans within a year or two?
I mean, aren't the salt concentrations roughly the same in all of the connected major oceans, or have they already noticed a change in salinity in the Atlantic?

Once it's had time to distribute, i would be surprised to hear that the extra fresh water had that much of an impact on global salinity...?

I am as always, talking completely without anything to back up my claims/beliefs!
