For families, if parks and gardens are a priority, Baselland (esp Oberwil or Reinach) or perhaps Bruderholz or Riehen (which are my personal preferences) are good places to look. Gundeli (just south of the SBB) is also nice with great proximity and diversity, but slightly less suburban. If youre kids will be going to ISB, Reinach or Aesch are good bets.
