Sorry to hear about your unpleasant shopping experience. I have no idea what your budget is but a good bed is not cheap. In your search have you come across this product? They have information in English on the website.

I'm willing to go up to a couple of thousand CHF. One thing I've learnt over the years is that a good bed is well and truly worth paying for, given that you spend about 1/3 of your life in it. However, I do have to trade that off against us only being here for a couple of years.

The main reason we don't like slat-based beds is because they've always seemed fragile. Both my wife and I are fairly big people (I'm 6'1 and about 110kg) and the times we've slept in slat beds, they've always made alarming creaking (and sometimes cracking) noises - and that's not doing anything more energetic than getting in and out, and rolling over ).
