Brings back memories. In the late 1950s I worked for a company called Courtaulds, they were the first ones to bring man-made-fibres onto the market. This allowed the introduction of the drip-dry-shirt, made of nylon, you could wash it in the evening and wear it again in the morning. After one day it was necessary anyway, the body's sweat couldn't get out. After a few washes the nylon started to turn a sort of dirty yellow, the only things that remained white were these plastic tabs which were removed before washing and reinserted before wearing.

Didn't know they still had them today.
