I thought they were just for when it's on display in the shop.
The big plastic bit that goes around the back of the neck - you can toss it.

The little pointy bits that go into slots along the collar tips - don't throw those away. They keep your collar tips from curling. Some are just sewn in so they never fall out. If they are removeable, remove them before washing and drying. They can easily get lost in the washer, and warped in the dryer.
