Re: Collar Stays

Caviarchips, PM me your address and I will send you some metal ones. I have an online bespoke shirt business and have plenty here.

For anyone interested, there are 3 types of collar finishes. One completely without lining which you might see on a casual shirt. Then there is a 3 piece constructed collar which has a floating interlining, this tends to be harder to iron straight but won't curl as much. The third is a fused collar, simple to iron and always looks unfurled unless you toss your shirt in a tumble dryer. When you do this the interlining, which is fused to the outside collar fabric, shrinks more than the cotton fabric on the outside. As it contracts it tends to curl the collars at the tips, and without bones will end up with a "Flying Nun" effect. Even with collar bones (or stays) the tips will curl slightly.

Business is slow now that we are in CH, any other questions about shirts to keep my brain ticking over?
