You should make sure that you receive the weekly flyers in your mailbox. You really need to shop at more than one of the majors (Migros, Coop, Denner, Aldi etc.) to get the best deals.

If you happen to have a freezer, that will open up some more options.

Often later in the day Coop puts meat on special (25 or 50% off) if it is short dated. If the meat is already on special and is reduced, you can really save some money. Migros does so as well but it seems less and their stickers are harder to see so you might miss them.
Aldi and Lidl do the same, I've often picked up fresh meats/poultry with up to 30-50% off because it's coming up to the use by date. This is especially true if you shop on Fridays/Saturdays. Great way to stock the freezer up with meats/poultry if you're running low.
