Which you wouldn't do if you're not a resident with a job to pay taxes on. Keeping your apartment won't make any difference to the C permit situation if you don't meet the criteria to hold on to it.

You have a foot in the door already. You're an EU citizen and can come back to Switzerland any time you want and get another job. You just won't be getting a C permit when you do. Unless you want to keep that particular apartment it just seems to me that you'd be making life more difficult for yourself.
