Re: AirBNB discount code EUR20 off

How to get a discount on AirBNB for privately owned vacation apartments or houses/villas etc?

Find something you like on AirBNB, then search for the name of the place or some text in the advert on Google. There is a very high chance you'll find the same property advertised elsewhere and it will be at least 12% cheaper. You can often even find the owner's website.

Why? Simply because AirBNB charges about 12% commission plus they take another 3% for payments. Also if you cancel, AirBNB take their fee in full, the guest receives a refund minus the AirBNB fee and the owner receives ZERO.

Unfortunately these sites are becoming popular and are trying to market private properties like a hotel on a nightly basis. To be fair, these websites must charge something to make a profit and there is nothing wrong with a commission model. A few years ago this would be 3 or 4% but now they are becoming more dominating.

A discount code is therefore simply a discount on the fees.

Another worrying feature is that there is no verification that an advertiser even owns a property. I created an advert today and although it checked my Facebook page and "verified" my scanned ID automatically by software, they have no idea if the photos and description I provided even belong to me. I could have created an advert for any property I wanted. Scary stuff!!
