There is a real tick problem in the forests (and even in the fields IN the city where deer roam), and as our Lab loves the water more than anything, we found it easiest to get most of her exercise time in the river. We did have a park across the street from us so we were quite lucky.

I often take care of a YorkshireTerrier, and while she loves the water (mainly to drink from) her reaction to become wet allows me to think that some of her ancestors must have been cats how much of such things depends on the dog-race and how much on the "individuals" I really cannot tell
