That is correct.

A fiber connection is no different to a CopperWire(PhoneLine) or a cable TV connection:

Fiber: a socket is installed in the wall. Connect router to socker, power and computer

Cable: a socket is installed in the wall. Connect router to socker, power and computer

CopperWire (Phone line): a socket is installed in the wall. Connect router to socker, power and computer

I have all 3 sockets in my apartment, so I can pick and choose providers as I wish.
