Re: Geneva-Zürich transport pass

Car is 600Km round trip. A normal-ish car would cost you about 70CHF only for fuel.

Train is about 80CHF round trip with the Halbtax.


Only reasonable choice is either GA paid per month if you can't afford the lump sum, or even better the Track 7 ticket which is probably the best option if you're leaving Friday evening and return Sunday evening.


If you don't use car for other purposes (including the pleasure of having a car for people that like driving) I would suggest against it, since tax, insurance, parking are big fixed costs that could reach the price of the GA and on top of that you would need to maintain it and fuel it. Plus (except for exceptional cases) the almost 3 hours each way, could be better spent on the train.



tl;dr

take a Track 7 and be done with it.
