We are considering purchasing a ~100 year old chalet, but currently failing to figure out how to get some type of building inspection and rough renovation cost estimate prior to purchasing.


Anyone done something similar? Could you give us some idea how you did it? Any hints on type of person to contact and correct terminology to use? And how much service cost (hoping not too much as we're not set on purchasing if renovation cost look too high, so trying to avoid going route of very detailed architecture drawings yet)?


Not sure if allowed here but any ideas on specific firms/people? Or any suggestions on directories to check? Place is in Bern canton, not far from Spiez. And we unfortunately don't speak Swiss German.
