Re: Building inspection and renovation cost estimate prior to purchasing old chalet

Living in a wooden chalet is something special. The cracking of the wood when it is cooling down after a day in the sun, or how it makes no noise at all in winter, with 1mt. snow on the roof. That you must get used to.
The hight of the cealings are also not every one's cup of tea.

Your chalet is 100 years old, the foundations need to be controlled along with the water and sewers.
I asked an Architect, that was also controller for the Kanton Bern Building Insuerance. Here is an eg. http://www.gafner-architektur.ch/sit...tarbeiter.html
You must just ask what it would cost for a control of your chalet.

This is our chalet.
