I though a Fondue Chinoise was always fish until we moved to Switzerland.

There's tomato fondue too apparently.
Basically the word 'fondue' (which means melted) has become bastardised. Instead of being applied only to the melted cheese dish it's now used for almost any communal cooking pot meal, be it using broth, wine or oil, and (as the tomato one shows), one where you're dipping a loaded forkful of one ingredient into another, runnier ingredient to coat it.

Now I'm hungry.... might have to crack open one of those individual cheese fondue pots for supper.
