You're assuming she appreciates it, in which case it would indeed be in order. But if she didn't that reinforcing element of a "Thank you" would be misplaced, thus the silence could be her way of saying "don't". Maybe she even felt belittled (for some emancipation killed the gents, stupid as that may sound to you and yours truly) so even a perfunctionary glance might be too much - not nice at all, but at least honest.
