Yup. Another alternative is to just use standing floor lamps if you're that concerned. Although I'd have trouble getting around if I put one in my kitchen.

If you do opt for ceiling lamps - I'd recommend ones where the bulbs are easy to replace (usually the threaded type), as opposed to ones where you have to practically dismantle the whole thing to replace the bulb (halogens).
