Permis B.. but less than 1 year

Hi all,

I am a postdoctoral researcher that arrived on April 1, 2015. My contract was supposed to start March 1, 2015 ending March 1 2016 with extensions allowable, but I didn't arrive until April 2015.

I just received my Permis, and it is B, and the only only observation is "formation avec activite", which makes sense since postdocs are treated as employable students.

However, the permis is only for 6 months. HR nor the secretaries in my department understand why. If they only wanted to give me 6 months, why not give me an L and not a B.

The only reason I can think of is that I entered in April and thus would never have been 12 months on this permis and so they reduced it down to 6.

I'm sure its not something to worry about since B can be renewed, but does anyone have any other thoughts?
