Welcome to the forum. What type of work are you going to be looking for? If you're highly skilled/experienced then German may not be so vital as upper level jobs can be found with only English necessary, though speaking a Swiss language will obviously be a bonus. But if you're looking for the lower areas: construction labourer, factory worker, etc, then some German will be needed so you can understand instructions. Plus most of the various contracts - rental, phone, insurance, etc - will probably be in German, not English.
