If the table top is adjustable with electric motors the problem might be coming from the magnetic fields from the table motors. Is the table unusual, does it look like a digitising table? These work with small magnetic fields, and often have a glass or white plastic surface.

I suggest you take a compass and see if there is any unwanted magnetic sources on the table.

Can you sit somewhere else in the room? Or take a cable extension, so you plug in the laptop but sit away from the table?
