General advice. Apply first, then if you are successful, ask if it's OK to have the dog. Explain that it's a small/well-trained/apartment-trained/non-barking sort of dog, and maybe you will be successful.

And make sure your dog is no problem to anyone - put it with a dog-walker if you have to, join a club, make sure the nails are trimmed, that you go to the vet regularly, and consider whether your dog is actually used to living alone, or if it really needs a garden or to be in a new situation (I assume it currently lives in a household full of people)...

I would not rule out apartments that do not say 'pet-friendly'.

But you do have to be willing to be honest, extremely mature and responsible for your pet.

Switzerland is 'pet friendly' in the sense that pets are out and about and allowed... but only if they are also extremely well-behaved and well-looked-after...
