With $1-2mln to inherit they clearly aren't in need of donations. Heck, Levine of the Maroon 5 has already offered to pay for the funeral.

I believe that her manager knew more about her financial situation (than the internet), otherwise he probably wouldn't have opened this campaign.
With a mother who is suffering from breast cancer for years, who knows what's the real situation.
Anyway, the family can decide to use what's been collected for helping other young artists or some charities, I don't think that's such a bad idea after all.
