The people vote for the political party, and whoever is leader of that party at the the time of winning a general election, is appointed Prime Minister by the Queen (purely as a matter of formality). There is no legal limit to the number of terms in office a Prime Minister can have.
Largely true but you vote for an MP that is a member of a political party
