I am a bit surprised that it isn't dual voltage. I suspect that it isn't the parts cost (probably a difference of pennies per device), but rather the cost of getting approval. CSA and UL are one thing, but all the rest of the world another. It may even be dual voltage, but they didn't get approval for all the non 120 areas of the world. Best to use a Trafo.
