You can have both!
There are now (at least) two firms that sell pellet stoves where you can burn wood as well. So you can light the pellets with your app on your smartphone, and then once the fire is going, you can throw on some wood. An exciting development and the best of both worlds:

According to one review, wood pellets are as expensive as oil per kWh (http://www.energie.ch/heizungsvergleich), but pellets are about 30% cheaper in Germany if that is a practical alternative.
Finally, you can connect some of these combi heaters to your Pufferspeicher, so the heat from the stove can be used to heat your boiler as well.
