Re: What did you compromise on? (property search)

For us it was about character and feel and tons of space, not overlooked, for us, friends, grandchildren and lots of animals- out in the countryside but close to communities and excellent public transport in both directions- France (and onwards to UK ith TGV) and Switzerland- as well as good shopping both sides, and cultural activities both sides. And much cheaper than UK equivalent.

The only compromise was a modern kitchen- but for me size was more important (and one day we might be able to afford one... oink oink) and re-saleability- although such houses with so much space are becoming so rare... we will see. Not intending to sell anyhow. If the dropping forces us to go back to UK, we will either rent it or just use it as holiday/rental home. Fortunately got a brilliant neighbour who would take over caretaking, etc.
