The point is that there isn't a political landscape in the US - there is either (using the terms of the opposition) the Nazis or the Communists. (Which neither side actually is).

Because the US's landscape has just right or left is doesn't adequately cater for those who views contain much from both sides - often split economically or socially.

When it comes to election time those voters will decide based on which of their beliefs they are happier to compromise in order to satisfy their others.

The post-election whining (from either side) only fuels the polarization. Perhaps bringing the parties closer would better serve the country - even if fundamental differences remain
